Movies—porn or not—don't get better than this. The Raging Stallion team has put together an intriguing, sexy, mysterious, erotic thriller that shows some of the hottest men and best sex around these days. Chris Ward has topped the tall order of besting last year's masterpiece To the Last Man with a film noir porn that redefines what adult movies are all about, and sets a new standard for the adult business.
The Raging Stallion superstars of last year's cowboy movie are relegated to smaller roles—for example, Ricky Sinz is a bartender at Chaps who gets whacked rather quickly (but is in a great three-way before that). This time, the actors who become superstars are Ryan Raz, Steve Cruz and Cole Streets and David Taylor, playing a handsome couple who live in the heart of San Francisco.
Cole is perfect as Joe Wilder, a guy next door who, like a Jimmy Stewart or Cary Grant character, gets swept into a mystery and a world that he doesn't understand. He is interrogated by a hard-ass detective (played remarkably well by Frank Fatone) and accused of murder.
As Wilder, Cole falls into a fantastic, complex story of amateur detective work and fascination with the porn world. He is obsessed with his porn idol (Steve Cruz), a drug-crazed party guy who's on a self-destructive path, and as he watches an intriguing sex scene starring Cruz that was mysteriously sent to him, Wilder realizes that one of the guys (Adam Killian) was recently murdered. He decides to investigate, against the advice of his friend (Ryan Raz), who manages a porn rental store. Taylor as Wilder’s breathtakingly handsome boyfriend, with his tight muscles and beautifully colorful tattoos, is angry that his lover is so enamored by porn and is getting sucked into the intrigue.
Meanwhile, Ryan Raz sees a "creepy guy" who is a bit sexy, too, (Bruno Bond as Marlowe, of course), and they go off and have a truly nasty daddy-twink sex scene. Bruno takes Ryan's ample cock easily down his throat and then licks his hairless butt before fucking him. A personal favorite is a scene Ryan has with Jason Crew and Brogan Reed that begins after the guys check each other out among the porn mags and DVDs and head off to a back storeroom. It’s one of the most amazing three-ways of the year.
The four-disc set divides the story into a two-part "Focus" and then a two-part "Refocus." The most fantastic extra is an entire disk put together by Andrew Rosen, called "Focus/Refocus P.O.V.," along with footage shot by Cole Streets, Ricky Sinz, Adam Killian and Steve Cruz. There are alternate edits, a Steve Cruz solo, a Mitchell Rock solo and other goodies on this fifth extra disk.
In the behind-the-scenes interviews, writer Dan Rhodes talks about how complicated the story is and how he inundated himself with modern noir-ish movies like Chinatown and Basic Instinct rather than depending on the classic noir of the 1940s.
There's lots of smoking and a few dark and creepy scenes, some really creative editing, and surprises at every turn. This great story shows that Raging Stallion knows how to keep quality adult video alive in the days of porn narcolepsy.
