LOS ANGELES—Disgraced porn star Ron Jeremy is no longer facing criminal charges, according to tabloid news outlet The Blast.
The Blast reports that it has viewed official documentation indicating that Jeremy saw all 34 of the criminal counts against him dismissed thanks to California Penal Code Section 1385, which permits a court to dismiss any and all criminal charges "in furtherance of justice."
The charges dismissed include felony counts of forcible rape, sexual penetration with force, sexual battery, lewd acts upon a child, forcible oral copulation, and sexual penetration of an unconscious victim with a foreign object.
AVN previously reported on Jeremy's release from prison to a "private residence" to address ailing health. In November 2023, the Los Angeles Times reported on emails it saw involving case stakeholders that resulted in Jeremy being granted medical release on the grounds of deteriorating health.
This came after a court declared him mentally incompetent to stand trial for the 34 counts he was facing.
Suffering from severe dementia, Jeremy was ordered under the supervision of a conservator. He was previously incarcerated at a men's jail in Los Angeles County, awaiting admittance into a state mental hospital for treatment. Jeremy, 71, has seen a dramatic decline in his health for much of the case against him.
One email seen by the Times stated that Jeremy required “round the clock medical care” after it was determined that “no medical facility will take him.”
Another email obtained by the Times featured remarks from Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Paul Thompson to the victims in the case, noting the accused rapist's “medical condition has deteriorated to the point that he is essentially bedridden.”
“I feel very badly that this is where we are, but it is beyond our control. His mental and physical condition deteriorated rapidly, and we are left with no other options. I’m sorry that we couldn’t get complete justice for you in court," said Thompson in that email.
Jeremy was originally indicted in 2021 for alleged crimes over a 23-year span.
