In this very funny behind-the-scenes look at an adult shoot, rookie tabloid reporter Jameson is assigned to dig up dirt on her idol, a famous (cross-dressing) porno director (St. Croix). She's caught sneaking onto his set, but impresses him by quoting from his movies, and earns a role in the production.
The theme of the movie-within-a-movie (a continuing obsession of Zen's) is the origin and dynamics of both romantic and sexual desire. The big surprise is the love story between St. Croix and Fine, his loyal, pitbull-dyke bodyguard. Believe it or not, this is the stuff of true romance, and their relationship is surprisingly effective, largely because of Zen's lighthearted touch. He is generously aided in the humor department by the nominations-worthy script and supporting performances by Tedeschi, Jackie Beat and Jameson (who's turning into a fine actress!).
The six sex scenes are all hot, especially the mountin'-side anal between Heart and Sanders (with a cum-swallowing climax), and the three (!!!) cum shots T.T. Boy produces in his rabid rutting with Jameson.
My one criticism is that the action is slightly rushed, as if this were originally intended to be a two-part film. Nontheless, Blue Movie is a first class effort all around, funny and romantic. A couples video for the screwed-up modern age.
