CYBERSPACE—Just hours before Stormy Daniels’ long-awaited 60 Minutes interview about her alleged affair with Donald Trump was set to air on Sunday, her lawyer Michael Avenatti—who has been teasing potential revelations from the interview since it was taped on March 8—suddenly took to his Twitter account in an apparent attempt to lower expectations.
“Note: (a) not all of our evidence will be mentioned/displayed tonight – that would be foolish; (b) we are not sure what CBS will include but we know a lot from the full interview will have to be cut bc of the time allowed; (c) tonight is not the end – it’s the beginning,” Avenatti tweeted on Sunday morning.
Despite Avenatti’s caveats, the public appeared to be extremely excited about Daniels intrerview, with the hashtag #StormyDanielsDay riding the top of the Twitter trending charts for most of the day on Sunday.
Daniels’ 60 Minutes segment rev
• Daniels confirmed an earlier story that she spanked Trump with a copy of Forbes magazine—with his picture on the cover.
“He turned around and pulled his pants down a little,” she told interviewer Anderson Cooper. “You know he had underwear on and stuff and I just gave him a couple swats.”
• In 2011, when she gave an interview to a tabloid about the affair, a man threatened both Daniels and her baby daughter in a Las Vegas parking lot.
“I was in a parking lot, going to a fitness class with my infant daughter. Taking, you know, the seats facing backwards in the backseat, diaper bag, you know, gettin' all the stuff out,” she said. “And a guy walked up on me and said to me, ‘Leave Trump alone. Forget the story.’ And then he leaned around and looked at my daughter and said, ‘That's a beautiful little girl. It'd be a shame if something happened to her mom.’ And then he was gone.”
Daniels said that her hands were shaking after the threat, which she took as absolutely authentic, and that she would recognize the man if she saw him again.
• Daniels refuses to confirm or deny that she has “some sort of text message, or video, or photograph” to document her relationship with Trump. But Avenatti says that he is not bluffing about possessing the material.
The 60 Minutes interview with Daniels ran just four days after CNN broadcast an interview with Karen McDougal, the former Playboy magazine 1998 Playmate of the Year, who also says that she had an affair with Trump—an affair that ran at the same time as the Trump-Daniels affair.
In that interview with CNN Correspondent Anderson Cooper, who also interviewed Daniels for 60 Minutes, McDougal said that over a period of nearly a year in 2006 and 2007, she and Trump met for sex “many dozens of times” but that she was completely unaware that Trump was carrying on a separate extramarital affair with Daniels at the same time.
McDougal said that Trump would tell her that he was in love with her “all the time,” and that she was in love with him, something that Daniels has emphatically denied ever claiming.
