As he’s proven repeatedly in the past, Brad Armstrong is at his best when he’s operating within the framework of smaller, more relationship-centric stories, and 4 Some is a powerhouse sleeper of that ilk. With a tightly woven, bitingly engrossing narrative and a jolting twist that leaves you blindsided, this is sophisticated, expertly executed erotica of the highest order.
We begin at a dinner party where Kaylani Lei aggressively lures Armstrong and wife Jessica Drake into joining her and partner Derrick Pierce in a rollicking four-way. A couple days later, Kaylani shows up unexpectedly at Brad’s law office and baits him into banging secretary Chanel Preston on his desk for her viewing pleasure, saying she could tell right away that he and Preston have more than a boss/employee thing going on. (And of course, it doesn’t take long for Kaylani to jump into the action once the command fuck show gets underway.)
From there, things for Brad turn very nasty very quickly. Kaylani and Derrick, he finds out, are grifters who’ve manipulated him into a highly compromising position and want a cool $50 grand to keep quiet about it.
As the layers of treachery and intrigue pile on thicker and thicker, we get Kaylani seducing Jessica into a superstar munchfest on the stairs of Jessica’s foyer; Derrick sampling Chanel’s exquisite goods for himself back at Brad’s office; Kaylani loosing her diabolical wiles upon Brad’s attorney, Randy Spears; and Derrick gouging even more grade-A gash—Amia Miley’s, to be exact—after picking her up at a café.
4 Some is hands down one of Brad Armstrong’s most virtuoso works to date, with an out-of-this-world cast that carries the material with simmering gusto, both in terms of their acting and their sex scenes. We can only hope it doesn’t get lost in the shadows of some of the more bombastic megaproductions of the season.
