In the terrific mainstream movie The Kids Are All Right, two lesbians (played by Julianne Moore and Annette Bening) struggle to tell their son why they watch gay male porn. It boils down to this: A lot of girl/girl porn isn’t designed to turn on lesbians. No such problem with Tight Places. Here the strap-ons aren’t wielded delicately, and fingers actually do some fucking, not just coy diddling.
And if real lesbians are underrepresented in porn, that goes double for woman-lovers of color—which makes this ethnically diverse production even more special. The title refers to the small areas in which the performers take their pleasure, such as balconies, closets and bathrooms.
Handsome African American first-timer Brooklyn Skyy gets her hands on Vai, a multi-ethnic, multi-orgasmic squirter. Transitioning gender queer Kohen, another newbie to erotic cinema, takes charge of Akira Raine, who also shares a hard-edged bathroom scene with Brooklyn and does a solo scene in the kitchen, water bubbling on the stove as she climaxes. In addition, there’s a foursome, shot by first-time director Nenna with the same fresh approach as the rest of the scenes.
As with other works from Good Releasing, the BTS commentary is fascinating, as the participants talk about their views on life, love and erotic moviemaking.
