If we believe vampires are inherently sexy, and as a society we must, given the spate of libidinous vampire films that followed the debut of the Twilight series, then Vampire Sex Diaries does a great job of creating of a sexually stimulating atmosphere. And considering this plot-heavy feature is light on hardcore sex (five short sex scenes), that’s a good thing.
Taut, great looking and shot in a fabulous array of locations, this somber take on the vampire legend has Tabitha Stevens, in a career-topping performance, leading a group of carnal vampires whose lust for sex exceeds their need for blood. Cheyne Collins and cute blonde Ally Kay embark on a journey across the desert that takes them to an abandoned town inhabited by these life-like creatures. How they are taken over by the spirits of the dead makes up most of the plot, but it’s the mood that captures our fancy.
From the sex side, particularly hot and haunting is the lesbian scene with Jenna Presley and Sophia Santi, with some help from Stevens. Later, Ashlyn Rae seduces young Ally Kay, and the best boy/girl scene occurs at the climax when Stevens, looking fine with her perfect, svelte body, finally gets her way with Cheyne Collins. Kay also has a scene with Collins at the outset, and Tabitha’s earlier hardcore scene cleverly exemplifies her increased sex drive after having become a vampire.
Mixing realism and dream sequences that segue between one another, Vampire Sex Diaries is a genuinely original take on porn vampires, with superb editing and direction, some good acting and a look that is truly stunning.
