Emulating the tease/smokers of yesteryear, American Pinups' success - at least artistically - is derived from simplicity itself. Each nostalgia-marinated segment features a strip session performed in costumes (and before backdrops) from an innocent era gone by, where sultry Tiki dances and Bettie Paige poses were hot enough to stir one's loins without resorting to a single beaver shot. Strip poker and The Farmer's Daughter also play a heavy role in the action.

While said props (including the flesh-and-blood ones) are accurate enough representations of the real McCoy, the crisp videography kinda spoils the illusion. This project begs for scratchy B & W or Kodachrome hues on 16mm film. Nevertheless, we applaud the effort and look forward to another installment.
