Does anyone remember the first workout-themed vid? Aerobisex was fresh and it had flavor. It starred Sharon Kane, back in her zesty mid-80s salad days. Fitness Babes, on the other hand, is similar to an oh-so-practical garden salad: healthy-looking but utterly bland.

The girls appear to be the result of a Southern California runaway eugenics program designed to crank out an endless supply of like totally! blonde beach bunnies. Now, there's nothing wrong with Barbie-doll appeal - until you start packaging too many in a single box. The only way to tell them apart is by the tattoos on the smalls of their backs. (Or are those battery compartments?)

In any case, each sequence begins with a male "instructor" overseeing a patently disingenuous workout routine, which is quickly abandoned for assembly line sex in the beach chair/blanket/pool. The fact that nobody can even work up a genuine bead of sweat pretty much sums up the whole production. One possible exception: the Shannon Wild/Brett Rockman encounter, which issues just a tad more steam than the gropes which precede it.
