Although Mark Wood already took the title Bangin' In Da Hood, it would suit Bangin' N L.A. much better. DJ Yella (of N.W.A. fame) truly takes his viewers into the hood - Inglewood and Compton to be exact - to soul food joints and cheap hooker motels like The Mustang. DJ Yella makes it feel like he's truly taking you through his neighborhood, running into friends and making hook-ups on the spot. Sure, it's staged, but the attitude is right.
More importantly, DJ Yella shoots some hot footage. This rap star is a hardcore perv, but he isn't simply indulging himself in the power of excess. He enlists professional performers to do the fucking, and it looks like he's probably taken a cinematography class or two - either that, or he's just a natural. Bangin' N L.A. stands up to any wall-to-wall production produced by any of the bigger companies.
How's the sex? Solid. Butterfly and Black Cat meow seductively when John E. Depth sprays their faces with jizz. Mercedes Ashley and Caramel act more than a little enthusiastic to be in the presence of a rap megastar, and they show it off during their girl/girl scene. And white girl Krysti Waters has so much booty going on that even Yella has to reach out from behind the camera and give it a squeeze. But it's the laid back, user-friendly attitude behind this production that nudges it above the average mark.
Plus at nine full scenes, Bangin' N L.A. literally has nearly twice as much hardcore than many of the wall-to-wall videos out there. And the DVD version comes with an audio soundtrack CD produced by Yella.
