Basic Elements might have been set in the 1880s and 1990s, but director Stuart Canterbury's magnum opus (perhaps "Winchester opus" would be more appropriate) is pure 1970s porn from start to finish. The plot is thinner than Kate Moss, the music is reminiscent of a Hank Williams, Jr. sound-check, and a badly over-dubbed audio track wheezes and groans more than a pallbearer at Chris Farley's funeral.
The DVD transfer is as lackluster as the film itself. Grainy, pixelated, and filled with frequent digital artifacts, this disc is a pale example of the format's capabilities.
