It is assumed that many middle-aged couples look to hardcore pornography for stimulus in their sex-lives. And it’s probable that couples of all ages use adult films both as aphrodisiacs and for instruction. If this can be proven, then a videocassette such as A Guide To Making Love should achieve great success and I can see no reason why couples wouldn’t want to use this classy, interesting program to guide them in their sexual endeavors.
The word “use” is key. While this videocassette – produced by Bryce Britton, a certified sex therapist and Rona Lee Cohen, a nurse who has specialized in sex education – seems clinical at times, it serves as a detailed lesson (refresher, I suppose, for some) in the art of foreplay and making love with emphasis on discovering what you enjoy experiencing sexually and achieving that with your partner.
Demonstrated by several very attractive couples (one brunette named Dana looks a lot like film star Bridgette Monet), every aspect of lovemaking is discussed in detail, using actual interviews with the performers as well as sexual footage that includes everything but actual penetration.
A Guide To Making Love, divided into 10 different sections, attempts to explore every aspect of human sexuality and that’s a hefty task. Much of the information is really common knowledge that seems repetitious while more important facts are brought out within the various sections.
For example, in the part titled “Body Image,” the assumption that “bigger is better” is eschewed and a clinical description of the penis and vagina follows. During the “Touch” section, clitoral stimulation is demonstrated. There are sexual exercises, tips on romantic stimulation, facts on sexual arousal (satin sheets, strip tease, sexy lingerie, vibrators, kissing, music, talking, cock rings, oils, showers, etc.), information and demonstrations of sexual fantasies, emphasis on the importance and healthiness of masturbation, actual lessons on oral sex, and demonstrations of the various positions of intercourse.
Perhaps the most useful part of A Guide To Making Love tries to teach the viewers exactly how to have an orgasm, emphasizing the various types of stimulation that turns people on.
With videocassettes available about every subject imaginable, from gardening tips to tennis to exercise to making pottery to Video Fireplace, a sexual instruction tape is both welcome and expected. Fortunately, A Guide To Making Love lives up to any expectations; it’s tastefully done, somewhat erotic in its own right and more helpful than the average hardcore adult movie.
The video quality is perfect, with the right touch of soft music accompanying the various sections. While interviews do break up what would be considered “action,” we’re never left with too many words without video demonstrations. A Guide To Making Love comes packaged in a “special edition” gold-stamped vinyl case with an instruction booklet from the two authors. This cassette would be a worthy purchase for people who want to take their sex lives to satisfying heights.
