Well gang, maybe we don't need another hero, but I'm convinced we didn't need another hardcore "spoof" that has little to do with its inspiration. Mad Jack (actually titled Beyond Thunderbone on the credits) is an uninspired look at future sex that (dare I say it?) could have ben good with a little attention to detail.
Shortly after WWIII, the world is divided into "Seekers (government-trained survivalists who want to breed a healthier new race, so they talk about sex a lot), and "Mutants" (mute telepaths who think about sex a lot). There, groups run around dressed like Rambo in the woods with toy guns, engage in various couplings and triplings in a suburban house that the nukes must have somehow missed.
As is usually the case in tapes like this, the sex scenes are pedestrian but worth a look. North is good in the title role, and starlets Candie Evens and Bionca are definitely "up-n-comers" to look for in the future.
That, in fact, is Mad Jack's problem; it doesn't go far enough. Why use a typical bedroom scene in a sci-fi setting? Why not a bomb shelter? Why not have the "Mutants" use their telepathy during sex? Why not give some feel for the premise, like Sex Wars or the classic Cafe Flesh?
The most telling point of this film is in the credits, where a "written by" is followed by "re-written and directed by". Bruce, if you took the time to re-write, this you didn't take long enough.
