Like the best television soap operas, Taboo IV melds sordid situations, depravity, high melodrama and sexual hanky panky. And unlike Days of Our Lives and Dynasty, the sex here is not implied. We get the best of both worlds.

Kirdy Stevens has achieved what some thought would be impossible – a better Taboo movies than the original. After two mediocre (but huge selling) sequels, the fourth in the series contains the most complex plot, interesting three-dimensional characters, best cinematography and editing, the finest acting and more importantly, the most luscious sex.

Dr. Jamie Gillis, a noted therapist, leads a group session on incest. While the tales of his incestuous clients weave through the plot, Gillis has his own problems. Wife Cyndee Summers is in love with his brother John Leslie, who is actually the father of Gillis' nymphomaniac daughter Karen Summer. And, to top it off, Summer has a special "feeling" for her real dad. Meanwhile, the other daughter, Ginger Lynn, has the hots for Gillis, her real daddy. And of course, there's plenty more. By setting up the situations under the guise of group therapy, Taboo IV sends up the moral that it's aright to have sex with your family, if you have the guts to talk about it afterward.

But we're adults here, and Taboo IV is just an excellent adult film, regardless of the plot's somewhat immoral themes. Karen Summers, Jamie Gillis and Cyndee Summers turn in three of the year's finest acting performances, while the direction of the story is smooth and fluid. Most of the hardcore scenes are steamers, as well, especially the two scenes involving John Leslie and Cyndee Summers and Ginger's a-round-a-lay with Daddy Gillis.

There are flashbacks to the Kay Parker character (old footage) from the original Taboo films, but Kay's not really needed here. Without her, Kirdy Stevens has woven fresh new characters into his incestuous web, and Taboo IV is exciting and original, even as a sequel.
