There’s nothing I can do to Alex Thomas’ excellent summation of what the Star Cuts series is and isn’t (see AVN, Nov. ’85).  The best of this lot features Danica Rhae, certainly not one of the best-known names in adult cinema, but a very able actress.  All of her clips are highly erotic, Danica is a very vocal performer, and her instructions to her young lover in one scene add immensely to the sensuality of her performance.  And for me to rate her above my long-time favorite Ginger Lynn is praise indeed.

Which is not to say that Ginger isn’t quite good.  Her encounter with Eric Edwards displays her usual talents, and she even steals one scene on the Raven tape (In fact, both she and Danica Rhae are better than Raven in their one scene together.  Sorry, Alex).  Fans of Desiree Lane also will not be disappointed… but they may be a little confused, since each scene has Desiree with a different hair color.  I’d guess the scenes span about two years on her career, and show her doing just about everything you’d want to see her doing.

One the down side, there’s Young Seka, who certainly smiles a lot more than “Old Seka,” but who shows little enthusiasm as a performer.  Lots of oral action; not much eroticism.  Basically for died-in-the-wool Seka fans.  And Rosemarie is strictly a specialty number, featuring almost exclusively anal action, and not very stimulating stuff at that.  Her long scene with Eric Edwards is the best of the lot.

I also can’t add anything to Alex’s reasons for buying or renting these tapes.  They’re short, all action, and you don’t have to bother looking at scenes of actors you don’t like. What could be easier?  Stay tuned for Volume 3.
