First, the bad news. The promo blurb for this video touts More Than Just Summer Lovers as "the sexy shenanigans of a female rock group that will do anything to reach the top of the charts" and "an inside account of what really goes down in the glamorous world of rock n* roll." Naturally, I expected to see a female rock band, hear a driving rock soundtrack, and get a look at what "really" goes on backstage with the all-female rockers.
But no. Instead we have Silvera as the manager of a female band which is on a world tour. While he jets off to join the band, his girlfriend (Mitchell) falls for Janette Littledove and Buddy Love, No one plays a musical instrument, the soundtrack is not hard rock. Only one female band member shows up.
Now the good news. Despite the misleading promo, More Than Just Summer Lovers is full of good sex and, thanks to writer Rachel Allan and director Fred Lincoln, there is emotional involvement. There is more to this sex feature than carnal couplings: we see friendship and relationships being explored on several levels. After all, sex is more than dancing in the sheets; it's how people relate and interact with each other.
This video is ideal for couples. The romantic music blends with tenderness and character depth. Look for the playful romp with Love, Littledove and Mitchell. No sex, just a deft touch that communicates that the characters actually like each other.
