Several times a year, during TV rating sweeps, local and network news departments try to lure viewers by offering insights into some titillating aspect of sex.  Enter Christine Career (Veronica Vera) of “69 Minutes,” a reporter who finds out what is happening behind the soon-to-be-gone porno shop windows in New York’s seedy Times Square district.  Vera leads us into the dressing rooms of the performers of the live sex shows, talks to the bouncer in the merchandise area, and even participates in some of the sexual goings on.

But this has been done before, and the only thing that mark an improvement are the better lighting and Vera’s good looks.  This film has potential, but is too much lie the pseudo-documentaries on sex in the early ‘70’s and lacks the enthusiasm and energy to make the sex really hot. Had there been a glint of perspective into the personalities of the people involved, ala the recent documentary Stripper, perhaps there could have been some redemption.

Although the unusual sex is worth looking at, be aware that former porn performer Bobby Astyr doesn’t indulge and Vera’s involvement is far from satisfying.  With her looks and body, more enthusiasm and more participation, Vera could have made a big difference in this film.
