To my knowledge, the last time anyone tried successfully to make an erotic production with at least as much story and sex, was the highly acclaimed Roommates by Chuck Vincent. Anthony Spinelli has done it again with his latest, No One To Love. It's the story of a couple, played perfectly by Ona Zee and Jerry Butler, who meet in a sleazy motel once or twice a week for almost a year. They are in love, and it shows in the way they talk to each other, and look at one another. The catch is that she's married. Her marriage, we learn, is one of indifference. Her husband is withdrawn and she is needy. And so they meet and love, and the younger lover is waiting for his chance to become number one.

The husband (Robert Bullock) also has his needs, but his lack of expression has made him less desirable. So each night he hopes, but is inevitably rebuffed, and each sleeps alone in the same bed. Eventually his frustration leads him to invite his beautiful secretary (Nina Hartley) out for a drink. He has one too many and Nina has to take him home. For the first time in his marriage he strays, and makes love to a woman not his wife. As a result of his natural self-guilt he confesses his infidelity to his wife and the story plays out to its inevitable conclusion.

There are far more twists and kinks to No One To Love than are possible to detail, but I found this to be the most involving adult tape I have ever had the pleasure of viewing for this magazine. Perhaps my own personal life where I played the role which Jerry Butler so beautifully portrays, makes me either the best or worst judge. It is a tape to be watched more for the story than the sexual content. Every character is perfectly defined. It has to be, in my opinion, the best adult video of 1987, and when award time comes, it should undoubtedly rank in the nominations including best actor and actress. The only question will be whether Jerry Butler or Robert Bullock will win. Do not miss this.
