Gerard Damiano is one of the most uneven directors I've ever watched, who's still making adult features. By that, I mean that I've seen the best and the worst of sexual cinema produced from his lens. Everyone remembers Deep Throat, of course, but what about Let My Puppets Come? And then shortly after that came Night Fever, one of the best of 1983. So I always approach a Damiano film with just the least bit of hesitancy.
Well, my fears were groundless. Cravings is simply excellent. Two couples, Victoria (Kane) and Harry (Nineteen), and Danny (Gaunt) and Samantha (Voux), decide to celebrate their seventh anniversaries together, in a gala tour of New York. They're all very much in love with their mates, but Vicki's starting to wonder about things. Like, is Harry's prodder really bigger than most? Because if it isn't, Vicki will have to go elsewhere, because she's really obsessed with taking a big mouthful of man. It's her craving; a sort of seventh year itch. Danny and Sam get along really well, though Sam has her fantasies too...which we get to see in all their glory.
Harry and Vicki don't exactly have an argument; it's just that he recognizes her need for some space of her own, and he takes off with his friends. Vicki uses the hotel bidet, while gradually falling into her own dreamworld. When Vicki dreams, however, she's transported to a nightmare of a bordello, where she's forced to go down on more men than she can count. Only Harry's fortunate return saves her from a fantasy worse than death, and the two live happily ever after.
Most of the action in this film is oral, though Vicki has a terrific coupling with Harry early on. Still, the superb writing, acting and storyline make this a film for all couples to see.
