There’s no denying the fact that Daniel Roberts turns in some spectacular, gee whiz, sonafagun special video effects in this still-life tale about a huge carnivorous female body cavity that swallows men whole.
Given where this video’s headed, the poetic choice would have been the anal tract. But since the vagina is obviously fodder for comedy material, we get nightmare visions of nerd Richie (Eric Monte) being sucked in whole by the Pubes That Eat Cincinnati.
Richie, you see, couldn’t score with a fistful of prunes and dynamite in a constipation ward but longs to be dynamite with the ladies like his buddy, Mark (Rod Retta).
During the throes of his obsession, Richie hears strange noises in his house decorated in early Oscar Madison. The noises belong to a gigundus valvevula or is it Volvo? Once inside, whatever, Richie is exposed to a netherworld of sensual sex delights provided by Alexis Firestone among others, or at least good sex is what we should have come to expect, but don’t get. On his heels, we’ve got Mark attempting a rescue with one Dr. Doppler (Marc Roberts) who looks more like Irv Winkleman doing an Art Buchwald impersonation.
The special effects are the key element here to countermand a cast of relatively unknown faces. The gimmickery ranges from darn near clever to embarrassingly gross and disgusting. Poltergash doesn’t generate much eroticism, hence the lower rating.
