An enigma to say the least, the first episode in this new mini-series suffers from some tired performances and poor acting. It's an ambitious production by Paul Thomas but his efforts fall short of the success he has achieved with his series of Brat videos.
Although a complex story is attempted, the dialog is often flubbed. The story revolves around the news anchor, after having a heart attack, being replaced by a smug, pretentious sportscaster. Since Jerry Butler thought he had the job locked up, he and pals Siobhan Hunter and Alicia Monet try to sexually entrap the sportscaster with the boss' wife, ensuring his firing.
While the script suffers from some dead spots, great sex could have saved twentysomething from mediocrity. But before each of her sex scenes, Alicia Monet looks as if she'd rather be horseback riding. Ona Zee makes up for it with her usual enthusiasm, but with all the sex here, only her scenes work. Monet is okay with Randy Paul, but you'd expect more eroticism from such a lovely lady.
Some sloppy editing (mistakes in dialog left in), a transition shot of a building used seven times (to save money?) and overacting by such stalwarts as Round Jeremy, offset a nice performance from Ona Zee and a beautiful-looking package. It's a wash. twentysomething breaks even.
