Kim Christy has developed a unique style of filmmaking that has brought us such features as Squalor Motel, Desperate Women and a host of she-male videos. Christy has a very erotic mind that focuses on the out-of-the-ordinary.
Mardi Gras Passions tells the tale of an amulet that imparts some sort of sexual voodoo upon the wearer. Taija Rae is the young woman who has worn the piece since birth. Now she feels compelled to head for the Mardi Gras. Taija stumbles into Mike Horner while taking a seat on an airplane and it sends her into a spooky and sexy group of encounters. Rae and Horner do it right there in the seats with a feverish display of lust. Image quality is gritty and somewhat lacking throughout despite this critic's viewing of it on the big screen.
On her arrival, Rae finds herself wandering into the haunts of mysterious voodoo man (Billy Dee), who prompts her to kiss a dead Lois Ayres full on the lips, bringing her back from the grave. A masked figure appears and sticks to the reborn Ayres. Rae is then led through a series of encounters by she-male Dana Douglass. A trip to the cemetery to acquaint Rae with her past then off to Angel Kelly who has some voodoo powers of her own. Kelly makes Rae's clothes disappear in one scene and a sexy Latina appears for a brief, erotically tense liaison.
The film perks along thanks to a creative and varied music score that tingles to the feel of New Orleans rhythms. Christy serves up another entertaining and sexually satisfying film that keeps off the beaten track.
