Any mention of director Eon McKai's name is almost invariably coupled with some sort of commentary about the newfound "Alt movement" in porn, which McKai is often credited with both starting and spearheading.
Creator of a movement or not, McKai's latest ?and his first for Vivid Alt. – is a mesmerizing porno offering that sees the helmer taking a slightly more mature approach to his rock and roll aesthetic; the end result more closely resembling a slick indie flick with insightful acting and great sex than it does a d.i.y. back alley fuck fest.
The first eight minutes of Girls Lie clearly evidences McKai's prowess as a lensmen, and like his previous titles, this one is jam packed with great editing and top notch music.
McKai explores the lives and lies of his four leading ladies, as they screw over a few dudes and screw, literally, a few more.
Charlotte Stokely's opener is a gem. The freckled starlet, like several of the character's in the release, plays a bored and horny suburbanite, who, in Stokely's case, looks to prostitution to support her deadbeat boyfriend.
McKai's deceptive characters get theirs wherever they want: at a punk show, at a cheap motel or an abandoned house – even on a porn set.
Seemingly in the vein of 1970s teen delinquent movies, Girls Lie is both sexual and psychological, certainly more than just some loud music, a few MTV edits and a mohawk.
