Are the great looks and super moves of Gail Force and a terrific box cover enough to make Imaginary Lovers a worthwhile shot-on-video rental? Unfortunately not. Imaginary Lovers starts off with an interesting premise, as a sexually frustrated housewife (Gail Force) conjures up wild sexual fantasies of great romance while her inconsiderate knucklehead husband (Dan T. Mann) bangs away at her with very limited results.
The plot dies quickly and we are left with some very long and monotonous sex scenes. Is annoying sex really possible? Well, director Danielle Rogers seems to have taped 30-second sex scenes and then repeated the footage over and over until she completed the obligatory 10-minute portion. At least it looks that way. This is extremely disappointing, since most of the erotic segments start off with a bang.
Imaginary Lovers is typical of today s shot-on-video problems (i.e. the names and corresponding faces are mixed up on the credits). This gives the viewer the indication that someone didn't take their time.
