People are expendable in synthetic relationships. At least two people involved with pro baseball player Randy Spears discover that out. Spears is carrying on with “roadie” Victoria Paris; his wife Kelly Royce is carrying on with his manager, Eric Price. The irony, of course, is that Spears and Royce are unaware that the other is screwing around, which leaves fall guys Paris and Price to play the harp strings, Royce and Spears muddled in guilt, and us reaching for the box of chocolates, glad we’re not screwed up like all those other emotional dickheads out there.
The story such as it is has Spears fruitlessly negotiating his contract during the middle of an incredible batting streak (right out of the Wade Boggs line score) while screwing his way to another indoor batting title. Not seriously thought-provoking, but an entertaining enough entry that has some pretty good, erotic sex scenes courtesy of Royce and Paris. Leaves just enough unsaid to make couples totally suspicious of one another.
