A shadowy, claustrophobic, disturbing sex drama, True Sin turns the sexual "sins" of TV evangelists (in this case, a Jimmy Swaggert-type character) inside out. At once erotic and dispassionate, True Sin gambles that viewers will enjoy a strong political statement with their stroking.

Mike Horner plays the timid evangelist, who hire prostitutes and cries about his actions afterward. He manhandles a willing Lauren Brice in the opening scene, then watches her with Jeannie Pepper while standing in the dusk of the seedy motel room. His voyeuristic activities continue while spying on employee Randy West making it with attractive, brunette newcomer Ashley Dunn and finally submits to the beautiful Ashlyn Gere in the feature's finale. The tape is worth having even just for her one long segment.

True Sin won't appeal to all tastes, for it looks dramatically at the hypocrisy of religious fervor. But it is moody and stylish and has enough attractive players and heated sex to recommend it. Anthony Spinelli takes chances, and this tape deserves support so that he can continue to create new sexual plateaus. Worth purchasing.
