Sooner or later most successful mainstream films get their porn counterpart. After 22 years, it’s finally the turn of The Producers. Ron Jeremy is perfectly cast in the Zero Mostel part, but Randy Spears is just not mousy enough to pass as Gene Wilder. Mike Horner tries to be funny in the role as the weird director but because of the short running time, the sex takes the front seat and comedy goes to the rear. Also, Don Fernando’s feeble attempt a rap music pales by comparison to Dick Shawn’s hilarious LSD character.
That said, the original film did not have the gorgeous Danielle Rogers who is Jeremy’s secretary. She connives Spears to go along with the scheme of a surefire flop play. Her seduction of Randy is pretty good as is Cameo’s of Horner to get him to agree to direct. Danielle again shines as she tries to bribe drama critic Holly Ryder which of course backfires as it is supposed to. More than a passable parody; some really good sex.
