Dream Date starts off amusingly enough. Carolyn Monroe is Mickey Ray's blind date, and both people are pleasantly surprised at their respective good fortune. Carolyn and Mickey begin the ritual of courtship with the standard comments one makes in these situations mixed in with camera asides to the audience--commenting on the comments, if you will. This device works reasonably well in plays, but gets tenuous when you start introducing the adult video gambit, "I remember when so and so was fucking so and so..."
After about the fourth scene, you as the audience are saying, "okay, fuck each other, already," which is what happens. Monroe and Ray make the most sparks because they've had a chance to allow the viewer some play in the imagination department.
The rest of the cast serve as friends of the duo who had some part in bringing the couple together.
Heidi Nelson, Sonja and newcomer Christine Appelay (who bears a close semblance to the TV star's name and for good reason) provide some generous pulchritude making this feature worth checking out. Nice box.
