Could the title of Paul Thomas' latest film be describing the romantic interlude between Marc Wallice and Nikki Dial that seems to go on for about as long?
Like Thomas' The Masseuse, Endlessly is essentially a two-person playlet: a boy-meets-girl, boy-beds-girl, emotions-baring exercise; the chief difference being, Endlessly does a far better job of relieving the claustrophobia attendant in two-person dramas, by offering the variety of sex on the periphery to break up the pace.
Dial is dragged to a beach house by friends Alex Jordan and Tiffany Myns. There at a party she meets Marc Wallice who, apparently, isn't fond of hanging around his own soirees. Shades of The Great Gatsby! The big joke here is that Dial is supposed to be a friend of a friend who cuts Wallice's hair. Wallice hasn't had his hair cut since the second battle of Bull run. Anyway, Dial's and Wallice's relationship begins first as an eyes-across-the-room-thing, then progresses to a moonlight walk along the beach (with enough romantic cliches hiding behind the jetties to ambush the 7th Cavalry), and, finally, the big event when Wallice and Dial do the deed.
Aided in part by a luscious beach-front locale, Wallice and dial's sex scene is worthy of all the effort that went into setting the table. It explores just about every conceivable position, facet and nuance available in an erotic coupling, and the camera does a through and satisfactory job of capturing the glories of Nikki's beautiful body.
Additional sexual ambiance is created at the party. Here, an orgy breaks out, with Crystal Wilder at its hub, taking it up the ass from Terry Thomas. Nicole London and Jonathan Morgan give a hot tub a justifiable reason for its name, and newcomer Rasha Romana flits in and out of the various body gropes, and, pulchritude-wise, she's worth more than a passing glance, believe me.
Next to the main event (Wallice and Dial), the second featured pairing occurs between Jordan and Mynx. It's as nasty as the underlying tone of the picture strives for sensitivity.
And like The Masseuse, Endlessly is something of a risk venture. It will engender empathy or apathy depending on the chemistry Wallice and Dial have previously established with the audience. I endorse it wholeheartedly because it's a film that glorifies the romantic sex act, makes it beautiful and makes the people who participate in it come off as real human beings. With a fabulous boxcover featuring Dial, you can't ask for much more than that.
