In an industry where major star status is up for grabs, Chasey Lain has an opportunity to succeed without really trying. But credit Chasey. She's trying, and though she's appeared in only a couple of features since The Original Wicked Woman, she displays a screen confidence and assuredness that belies her limited experience.
However, Covergirl, a yarn about the machinations of high fashion, is more low drama than anything else, and Chasey's torpedoed by a script perhaps best served by a match and a fireplace poker.
Chasey, now at the top of the fashion field, has a XXX past that threatens to rear its ugly head. She needs to track down the producer of the tape, Peter North, who intends to use the blackmail money ($2 Mil he's asking) to fuel a documentary he's producing about the Crimean War (cry me a river, please!). The paper trail, of course, is what sets up the sex scenes, the best of which puts Chasey and Kristi Lynn in the same room together. Butt lovers will feast on this interlude—the best of the vid, and Kristi's a welcome sight back in the biz.
Meanwhile "porn actor" Tom Byron and Heather Lee have a romp, with the camera providing great angles of Heather's rump. An outdoor threeway features Chasey, along with Marc Wallice and Debi Diamond, as legs and bodies intertwine in what could pass for an impromptu game of "twister". Chasey gets it from Wallice doggie-style, with Marc eventually coming on her out of the missionary position. Chasey's let's-make-a-deal finale with North gets some good angles, but it isn't a spectacular scene, though necessary for the requisite plot twist.
A passing comment: the opening outdoor threeway with Alex Sanders, Jonathan Morgan and Nicole London is, frankly, not the best of overtures and lacks a penetration shot for the anal. "Let's transition," yells "director" Frank Zee. Famous last words, Frank. This scene needs 'em.
Overall, Covergirl is competently lensed, though, as seen in most adult vids nowadays, tends to get dismissive when it comes to staying on key angles in the sex scenes. Chasey, though, as her growing legion of fans will attest, is getting better and better.
