A big-budget porn takeoff on "American Gladiators" is a wonderful idea; full of possibilities for humor and hot sex. Make Jonathan Morgan the host (remember the fine job he did in a similar role in Zane's You Bet Your Buns?), get two hot performers like Kaitlyn Ashley and Tammi Ann for your contestants, and you should have a recipe for a hot video, no? Well, somewhere along the way, Paul Norman decided that the pacing of "Meet The Press" would be preferable to "American Gladiator's, and that a couple of minutes of Ron Jeremy comic relief was all the humor needed.
The result? A thuddingly dull exercise, flatter in affect than a Nancy Kerrigan interview. As for Tammi Ann, who carries the bulk of the hetero action here — she may be one of the most uninhibited of female porn performers, but she's also one of the most mechanical. Virtually the only sign of emotion one ever gets from Tammi is a giggle and a hebephrenic grin, and the cutesy act gets old pretty fast.
The "obstacle course" the girls negotiate is cleverly designed. There's a "Wall of Dicks", a la Collectible. Tammi tumbles from a horizontal ladder into the "Pit of Love", where Nick East and Shawn Ricks ravage her in a pile of styrofoam peanuts (did they recycle, I wonder?). Tammi's buried, except for her lips around Ricks' dick, and her pussy around East, in a fetching visual. Tammi also takes on Dick Nasty, Dizzy Blond, Ricks once more, and Randy West and Tom Byron; while Kaitlyn travels the distaff route with Nikki Shane and Tiffany Mynx, and Gumisha Amado and Melanie Moore, and also passes three minutes in the "Penalty Pit" with Ron Jeremy. The hottest sex is actually an under-the-bleachers matchup during the "intermission" between spectators Maggie Mae and Alex Sanders —a ball-churning vigorous doggie-style drilling. When the throwaway scene outshines the stars, you're in trouble.
Kaitlyn "wins" the contest, and the grand prize is a starring role in a Paul Norman feature! (No mention of payment.) Doubtless second prize is two weeks in Philadelphia.
