With a storyline derived from ten percent of an unused X Files episode and ninety percent of an Andrew Blake feature, this "zone" is more of the erogenous type than the twilight kind.
Yet the presentation is so lush, and the women so inviting, that it's easy to forgive the producers for taking the creative low road. (It was shot in entirely in Romania, where the last superstar to emerge was Bela Lugosi. Fortunately, the women are imported from all over the globe.)
Yet another curious E.T. is on a fact-gathering mission for the mating habits of Homo sapiens. In this case, our galactic Marlin Perkins is played by a slim young fellow with a predilection for using more eye shadow than Tori Spelling.
His favorite game, apparently, is entering the minds of impressionable young fashion models and realizing their fantasies through hypnotic suggestion. It just so happens that most of their deepest desires happen to be having frequent and gratuitous sex in Romanian castles and steamy spas!
Forbidden Zone isn't much more than an interstellar violation of the Mann act but it manages to capture an ambiance steeped in lip-smacking erotica, due in part to some credible (and incredible!) actresses who really seem to enjoy their "dreams cum true."
