As predictably as the sun sets in the west and Entertainment Tonight follows Hard Copy (in certain time zones, Playboy presents its annual tribute to itself.

Playmate of the Year Julie Cialini headlines this cavalcade but doesn't necessarily walk away as undisputed choice for the best-looking babe award.  That's an almost impossible decision to render.

As is standard practice, each vignette is custom designed to reflect the personality of the Playmate.  Kelly Gallagher's southern roots take form in one of those quaint oaken tub outdoor baths. I hope that's still current practice in South Carolina because that's where I'm going for my vacation.

"Jock" Cindy Brown confesses she's a writer of poetry and basks naked in jewels which I'm sure are symbolic of the craft. Columbian-born Maria Checa, poses south of the pillow on a couch.  Stacy Sanches proves that everyone's "down-to-earth" in Dallas with the possible exception of Jerry Jones, and former magician's assistant Melissa Holiday proves conclusively that there's a Pam Anderson clone lurking in every silk hat. Keep in mind that the entire collection of Playboy video calendars is now approaching the status of a mint condition Mickey Mantle card.
