The three films included here: Uta, The Pimp Primer and Lusty Neighbors (1968-69) are introduced by 42nd Street Pete, who gives us a great history of grindhouse theatres and goes into so much detail, you can almost smell the urine and freebase.

Uta -reproduced here from a beautiful source print- is a must for fans of the campy sex romps of the ’60s, although director Nick Phillips (Satan’s Black Wedding, Sappho ’68) captures the action in a moody noir style more akin to Polanski’s Repulsion.

The Pimp Primer is a nasty tale of the pimping game (albeit with not an African American in sight), and in Lusty Neighbors, we get an inside look at the swinging ’60s. The fact that all three movies have downbeat and violent conclusions (probably to make these films “cautionary tales” in case of confiscation) only adds to the fun.
