With this third horror parody for Zero Tolerance from producing/directing duo Tabitha Stevens and Gary Orona, they really hit it out of the ballpark, finding and maintaining their tone much more sure-handedly than in their previous splooge-ups of Friday the 13th and Psycho, which though highly impressive efforts (both earned Editor's Choice reviews from this critic), couldn't quite decide whether they wanted to play it straight or go for guffaws.
Official The Silence of the Lambs Parody unequivocally opts for the latter, and succeeds in spades with the help of a tremendously gifted cast, several of whom give instantly classic and unforgettable performances. Kagney Linn Karter, in particular, has never been better. Anyone who may doubt her appropriateness for filling Jodie Foster's Academy Award-winning shoes in the Clarice Starling role is in for a whopper of a surprise—not only does she nail Foster's tightly clenched Southern twang downright eerily, she rattles off the often rather challenging dialogue with a finesse and eloquence many probably wouldn't have ever guessed she had in her.
On the contrary, few would likely argue, we expect, that any porn actor was more tailor-made to play Hannibal Lecter than Ben English. Sure, he may be no Anthony Hopkins doppelgänger, but he's got the chillingly calculating thing down pat (not to mention, of course, the British accent). Given the already iconic status of the character, this almost certainly will stand as one of the tent-pole roles of English's career.
Back in the realm of the pleasantly unexpected, Mark Wood proves to be the comic highlight here as the makeup-smeared, wienie-tucking Buffalo Bill. As it turns out (in one of the several clever flights of narrative fancy Orona takes from the original), the senator's daughter Bill kidnaps has no desire to be saved at all, but rather to be pounded in the ass by him as soon and as exhaustively as possible. Needless to say, he eventually relents to her pleas and pulls her out of the well to oblige her request.
We also get to see Clarice (or by extension Foster, the implication would be presumed) indulge in her much-suspected lesbian inclinations in a scorching scene between Karter and roommate/lover Isis Taylor. She does, however, go straight in the end with her FBI Academy superior, Crawford (Anthony Rosano).
Also sprinkled in are a more-than-decent coupling with Alexa Nicole and English in his cell, and one with Rocco Reed and Tanya Tate, playing a Sen. Martin who gets overcome with lust after Lecter's lewd inquiries about the sensitivity of her nipples.
Thoroughly entertaining from start to finish, with plenty of top-notch sex and laughs along the way, this handily comes in as one of our very favorite releases of the year to date.
