Classic COLT connoisseurs take note — after digging through the vaults, studio execs have unearthed some of Rip Colt’s valuable pre-condom footage, a real treat for those of us who can never get enough vintage porn. These rediscovered gems are paired with some brand spankin’ new material, the lot issued as the third installment in the Couples series. The vintage clips (Burt Miers and Cliff Turner; Lance and Tom Littlewolf) are in keeping with the masculine ideal of the era — lean, sculpted muscle, neatly trimmed moustaches, and naturally fuzzy crotches. And for footage that’s been hidden for 30-plus years, production values stand up remarkably well when compared to other porn from the same period. It’s nice to rediscover Lance, especially since the images of him are so clean and vibrant. Fast-forward to present day; the two remaining vignettes are equally pleasing, particularly the one featuring Tom Chase and Brad Patton. Chase is starting to look his age, which in this case is a good thing. It’s left for viewers to decide who has the meatier prick, but these two porn titans are well matched in every way. Their scorching flip-flop is the undisputed highlight of Couples III.
