Gang Bangers director Ansel Rainer seems to be trying to capture the atmospheric sleaze appeal of certain gayporn classics of the mid 1980's. The video's best moments take place at night in a street gang's graffiti-sprayed meeting place, where the guys stage private initiations. The orgies are shot in low illumination; anonymous , naked flesh glistens with sweat in the moonlight. Too often, though, the moody atmosphere simply turns murky. Also, the audience may be mislead by the box into thinking this is strictly a Latino and Black tape; in fact the initiation scenes are dominated by a couple of muscular blonds, and the strongest presence is dirty-talking, stubble-jawed Lou Cass, shedding completely the whitebred pretty-boy image that launched his career.
