Clever dialogue, solid performances from stars Mark Andrews and Rob Cryston, and energetic if not always polished direction from Sam Abdul make this half-romantic, half-cynical treatment of the prototypical boy next door a refreshing if not totally successful video experience. Andrews has become a far sexier man with the addition of a few years to his originally blandly boyish look, and his acting ability has improved tenfold. As for Cryston, he ranks among the most compelling newcomers of the year. Individually they are excellent; together (in the final scene) they are dynamite. Unfortunately, the scenes in which neither actor appears are noticeably inferior, both sexually and dramatically. Nonetheless, the overall product is well above standard for today's market.
