MEDELLIN, Colombia—Cam4 has ramped up its humanitarian efforts in Colombia with the launch of a new program called Cam4Cares which is bringing needed supplies to impoverished areas of Medellin ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As COVID-19 pushed the world into lockdown, over 120,000 jobs were erased in Medellin, and because many low wage workers are employed off the books, there is little to no opportunity for the newly unemployed to attain welfare or any type of social assistance from the state.
As part of the effort, Cam4 broadcasters and customer support staff have teamed up to raise funds in order to deliver crucial supplies to six of the most affected communities in Medellin, delivering more than 740 care packages. Each package contains a two-week supply of food and basic necessities.
“The best thing about this kind of project is that not only it is a great way to help and build up ties with the community,” said Ryan F., Cam4’s regional director of Latin America, “it also constructs loyalty, brand awareness, and offers a sweet, heartwarming feeling."
