LOS ANGELES—Adult performer Sofia Moon passed away Wednesday night in her hometown of Madison, Wisconsin, her agents confirmed.
Moon died of complications from taking Percocet that had not been prescribed, according to her agents. She was 20.
Nina Elle, the co-owner of Society 15 Models, told AVN Moon had been spending time at home due to the industry being shut down from the coronavirus pandemic. She started performing in May of 2018 and had about 20 credits.
“She just went home to be with her family and in that time ended up doing some bad Percocets,” Elle said Thursday night. “She was just super kind-hearted. She was a hard worker and just a good soul. This was really unexpected. We just talked a few days ago and we kept in touch through Instagram. She was such a fun person to be around. I’m just really shook.”
Train, the co-owner of Society 15, said he had just spoken to Moon two nights ago.
“She was bubbly and high energy,” Train said. “She had a great spirit, loved the business, loved the job. She worked hard… She was a dancer originally. She was always dancing and full of energy.”
Adult industry veteran James Bartholet told AVN Moon was one of his clients at Galaxy Publicity; she also had been helping him co-host his weekly radio show "Inside the Industry," joining him behind the microphone for about three dozen broadcasts.
“She was one of my Galaxy girls,” Bartholet said. “She signed at our AVN booth [in 2019]. She was such a lovely young lady who had so much promise. She was booked for a lot of things. She had all of these things lined up and then we had the shutdown.
“I’m devastated, it’s like I’ve lost a child. I’m completely at a loss for words… I’ve known that young lady for a couple years now. She was not suicidal. She was actually feeling very good about herself and had a bunch of bookings.”
