Mick Blue Lands Recurring Role on 'General Hospital'

LOS ANGELES—Three-time AVN Male Performer of the Year Mick Blue has secured a recurring role on ABC's iconic daytime drama, General Hospital, and fans can catch him in Episodes 13 and 14 of Season 62.

A member of the Screen Actors Guild and also a Brazzers contract star, the AVN Hall of Fame stud now is the first and only native Austrian actor to land a recurring role on the show in its 61-year history. Blue plays an underground casino poker dealer alongside daytime legends such as Steve Burton (Jason), Finola Hughes (Anna), Carlo Rota (Sidwell), and Emma Samms (Holly).

“I’m super honored and stoked to have been given the opportunity to join the General Hospital family," Blue said. "Everybody on set was super nice and welcomed me as part of the team right away… it’s pretty mind-blowing to be part of one of the oldest TV shows in the history of daytime drama.”

Blue, who filmed his episodes in August, called the entire experience “surreal.”

“It was surreal because the day before I did the audition—me personally, I didn’t even know what General Hospital was," Mick told AVN. "I didn’t grow up with it and usually I don’t really watch many soap operas.

“So the day before I recorded my audition, I watched a couple episodes just to get an idea of what it is. Then when I got the booking, I started researching General Hospital more and more so I’m a little bit better prepared of what to expect and what not. And then I realized that it’s one of the most iconic shows in the world.”

The busiest man in porn—who also races cars when he's not on set—said he nailed his role as the dealer.

“I already got great feedback from the casting directors and everybody involved," Mick continued. "It wasn’t as challenging as people think it would be and what that shows is that for a lot of adult actors in our industry, being on set and being in front of the camera—sometimes you have a script and sometimes you ad lib—it’s already for many of us second nature to do certain things. And when you go to a big set like this it doesn’t feel as hard anymore.

“Yes, it’s more cameras, more background actors and a different way of doing things. But at the end of the day it’s still acting and you tell the story of a person in front of a camera and you use those things that you have learned in your lifetime that you master, even if your teacher was the sets in the adult industry.”

He joked that what he was most worried about was "that I’m dealing the cards correctly."

"I wanted to be as good a possible and as believable as possible as a professional card dealer,” Blue admitted. “I played poker my whole life and dealt cards my whole life, but it’s like one of those things—I haven’t often dealt cards on camera. I’ve acted on camera, so in my mind it was a little bit more challenging to deal the cards correctly, but everything worked out great.

“It was a great experience. It was not a huge role but looking back it was a good role that brought some good exposure, which makes me happy.”

Blue expressed his gratitude to Michael Zanuck of MZA Michael Zanuck Agency for securing the audition that led to his role: “Am also super thankful to my agent, who’s been well-known in the industry for over three decades and really took a chance with me.

“I also have to give a shout-out to the one and only Jonathan Stanley, actor and owner of HotShotSelfTaping.com for being my audition coach and creating a space to record the best auditions in town.

“After working really hard over the last 16 months to achieve moments such as this, it’s amazing that it is starting to pay off, and I can’t wait to see what other amazing projects the future will bring.”

Blue told AVN that ever since he joined the adult industry 24 years ago in Europe that he has always wanted to become an actor.

"So I really took a deep dive into the mainstream world, which is crazy and hard to understand and overwhelming and difficult in more ways than one. But I dove in," he explained.

So Blue created a casting profile, got professional headshots and made an acting reel.

“I would say I really started in November and for the past 10 months I really, really dug in and did a bunch of auditions," Mick continued. "When you look into the acting world what a lot of people don’t know from the outside is that one of the hardest things is to make your auditions stand out and be good in auditions. Since COVID 95% of auditions are not in person anymore. Most of it is self tapes.”

When he got the call about being cast in General Hospital, Blue said "it came out of nowhere."

"I’ve done so many auditions—many I got from Michael Zanuck and many I generated myself. Ninety-nine percent of the time you never even get an answer. You only get an answer if you’ve either booked the job or made it to the next round for an in-person audition," he added.

With more than 5500 credits in adult, Blue said he gets recognized for his adult work on his mainstream shoots.

“So far since November I’ve done five mainstream projects and at least one person on every single set came up to me and they said they knew who I am and they wanted either to take a picture or wanted to have a chat with me,” he revealed.

Blue said he also isn't hiding his adult work—quite the contrary. He made the decision immediately to use his Mick Blue stage name for his mainstream acting.

“I decided from the first moment to use the same name I’ve been using for 24 years in the adult and whoever has something against it they won’t book me and that’s fine, it wouldn’t be good blood anyways," Mick said. "The ones who want to have me on set who don’t care, I want to work for those people.”
