Mick Blue Wins 2024 NASA National Championship

LOS ANGELES—Mick Blue returned to a familiar place over the weekend—Victory Lane.

The Brazzers contract star and three-time AVN Male Performer of the Year from Austria overcame a tricky start Sunday to win the Spec E30 class in his Bad Dragon BMW at the Utah Motorsports Campus near Salt Lake City, capturing the National Auto Sport Association national championship.

The AVN Hall of Fame performer held off a fierce charge from Matthew Ibrahim and Sean Aron to take the checkered flag.

“It’s huge,” Blue tells AVN. “I’m overly stoked. It was definitely the best achievement I’ve reached in racing so far.”

Blue, who has been racing professionally for more than seven years, overcame difficult conditions that included soaring 85-degree temperatures and an altitude of 4500 feet above sea level.

“When you’re that high up the bodily functions are a little bit different,” Mick admits. “Plus it was very hot and even though I have a Cool Shield from the company Cool Boxx that pumps cold water through your shirt it is still very exhausting.”

But the seasoned stud was determined to add more hardware to his trophy case. He started Sunday’s contest from the pole position but quickly fell back due to a less-than-ideal opening lap.

“The first three laps I was in second, but I knew Sean Aron—who was leading the race—that I’m going to be faster than him. So I kept a cool head for a few laps and waited for my opportunity and passed him.

“Then it was about creating a gap and keeping the gap. In the second half to the race my main competitor was Matthew Ibrahim in the #6 car—he came hauling. Luckily, I was able to keep him at bay.”

Blue tells AVN he felt pressure going into the championship race because he knew Ibrahim was fast in testing on Thursday and then again in qualifying Friday when he outqualified him by 8 hundredths of a second.

As Blue climbed behind the wheel on Sunday he knew that Ibrahim would have to be dealt with before the race was over.

“I was watching the rearview mirror and he was the car behind me with about 20 minutes to go in the race and the fight was on,” Mick says. “I just put the gas pedal to the floor.”

With Sunday's result Mick now is leading the season championship. He says he will race again at the NASA Regionals in November at Chuckwalla Raceway in Desert Center, Calif.

This past weekend he also finished third in the NASA TT6 Championship race and fifth in the ST6 Class.

The driver thanked Canoga Park-based JMP Autowerkz for setting up the car for peak performance in the altitude and Bad Dragon for their continued support of his racing career.
