Blu Dreams: Jewelz Blu Eyes Big Moves in 2021

LOS ANGELES—Jewelz Blu flicks on her lighter and raises the flame to the tip of her tongue.

She tells viewers they’re about to see “something very hot.”

She wasn’t kidding.

In the new Brazzers scene titled “Blu Flames Burn Hotter,” Jewelz performs a sensual fire dance that without question is one of this year’s best tease sequences. Then she takes on Zac Wild for several positions of hardcore sex.

An expert fire fan performer who mastered the flow arts before ever stepping onto a porn set, Blu rose to the occasion for Brazzers director Lea Lexis, who first spoke with Jewelz about spotlighting her fiery talents last November.

“I showed her my stuff and she’s like, ‘Really? I want that,’” Jewelz recalls. “And she made it happen and made this really cool set design at this shoot house and had tiki torches all lit up for me and I did all these fun tricks.”

Lea also did Jewelz’ makeup.

“She does a phenomenal makeup job—her makeup skills are so good, so professional,” Jewelz adds. “She did really cool flame eye makeup on me. So I was super excited about it. They had all these little hanging lanterns and stuff—really dreamy and vibey.”

A 2021 nominee for Best New Starlet who started her porn career in 2019, the Blu Merbabe is poised to ascend to the next level of her career this year as she bolsters her brand with several new projects in motion.

“I took a break from shooting in December and I didn't go back to work until the end of March,” Jewelz explains. “So I've been shooting since then and it's been wonderful.

“I've been working with a lot of amazing companies and I feel like I'm doing really fun stuff. I feel like my most recent shoots, they've all like done something special for me, like create a cool set.”

Represented exclusively for bookings by Motley Models, Blu tells AVN she wants to build on the momentum she gained from becoming a finalist for the top award for a new performer in January.

“It was awesome being nominated for Best New Starlet—like just being nominated, that’s a cool thing,” Jewelz says. “That's why I told my partner… I'm like, ‘Even if I don't win, it's still cool to be nominated. Like hey, my work is being recognized in the industry.’ And that's amazing, because I didn't really expect myself to kind of like blow up like this.

“Obviously, I wanted big things. I was aiming for big things, but I didn't expect it to turn out like this. But I'm so happy it did.”

Now as the native of Southern California approaches 130 movie credits she is continuing to evolve as an artist on and off the set, evidenced by her sensational Instagram feed that at press time had racked up more than 461,000 followers. There is never a dull moment on Blu’s social media, where she shares her love for spinning, her avant-garde photoshoots and her flair for cosplay with her legion of fans.

“I want to just keep going bigger and better,” Blu says. “I've been doing more cosplay stuff recently and working on starting a YouTube channel. I call it building my empire.”

That empire is not only going to include her YouTube channel launching soon but also a line of merch and her own clip site.

“So people could buy my like really artsy clips individually,” she says. “I'm still gonna be using OnlyFans and ManyVids and all that stuff. But my own site for my brand, so I’m kind of excited about it.

“I've just been formulating all those things the last few months trying to get it all set up.”

Blu revealed her site would be called BluDreamsXXX.com.

“It has to have some Blu in there,” Jewelz says with a smile.

“I like the BluDreamsXXX because that's my brand and it's still gonna be me and I want to be able to feature other people that I work with for my clips on there. So I'm excited to try to do all the things this year.”

Jewelz’s recent cosplay adventures include plenty of latex outfits.

“Recently I did a passion project shoot but like not for like my site or anything, just for fun with this cosplayer I met through Instagram and she's in San Diego,” Blu continues, referring to Tessa Crownster. “And so we both have these latex cat suits made by the same latex artist. It’s kind of a big deal because his latex work is amazing.

“And so we both cosplayed characters from this anime called Evangelion. It’s like a classic anime. It's really old. She has the white suit, I have the black suit. We both did a shoot at this really cool studio.”

Blu wore her suit for more than five hours. It could be said she suffered for her art that day, but it was worth it.

“I was sweating and it had the shoes were attached to it. So like the shoes are fully built in and the suit is fully formatted for my body. And I was like sweating so much I was literally standing in my own sweat during the shoot, but that was fun,” she says.

She also joined a friend to dress up like a fairy for another photoshoot, making her own wings and crown for the costume.

“I think my wings came out good for the first time ever making them—I'm pretty proud of them,” Jewelz admits.

Blu also cosplayed Yumeko Jabami, the main protagonist of Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler.

In her Instagram post, Jewelz said:

Would you be willing to bet it all ? My Yumeko Jabami cosplay was too cute to not share~ Kakegurui is one of my favorite new anime’s because I just love the sapphic energy and high stakes gambling.

In Blu’s take on Yumeko, she has cat ears.

“She loses a bet and she's like 200 million yen in debt and she's like, ‘I'm just a loser cat who’s in debt.’ So I put cat ears to it,” Jewelz explains. “That’s the thing about cosplay, you can put your little twist to things.”

Blu says she’s also done some Naruto cosplay but hasn’t posted it on Instagram because it’s not safe-for-work.

“Yeah I've been trying to do like at least one or two cosplays a month,” Blu continues. “I want to get into actually making my own cosplay, so I'm going to be getting a new sewing machine… a true art form of cosplay is when you actually make it yourself.

“That's how it originated was you make your own costumes from these shows and all this stuff. I like crafting, too.”

Meanwhile, Blu says she’s glad to be fully vaccinated and plans to check out the Hard Summer festival this year as she starts attending events again.

“Health is wealth,” she reasons. “Because that’s all you really have, especially being in this industry, health is so important because our bodies are our visual products. So being healthy and in shape, all that stuff is so important for being successful.”

Blu at the time of this interview in May also had adult bookings coming up with Twistys, Girlsway and Reality Kings with scenes coming soon from Badoink VR, Naughty America and Sex Like Real.

“Like all my VR stuff that I shot, a bunch of were some of my first scenes back. I’m excited to see those,” she says. “I really like VR, it’s a lot of work to shoot it but it's really fun.”

As Blu reflects on her steady progression she remembers her early days in porn when she still was learning about what wardrobe to bring to the set while also getting used to the flow of a porn shoot.

“And also becoming more confident on camera,” Jewelz adds. “That’s been great, because I feel like—myself included—every performer has that day where they're like not feeling it, you know, you're just like not feeling yourself.

“But you have to just put that away in a box and be like, no, I’m the star of the show. I have to be hot and do the damn thing and make a great scene.

“And that's always my goal when I'm working. I like to say I have a lot of professionalism on set, because my goal is to be there to work and make a great scene—and like whatever it takes. I'm very patient through technical difficulties—because stuff happens. My job is just to make a great scene because that’s going to be on the internet forever.”

She continues, “I'm very happy to see how far I’ve come and evolved and that I'm still here. They say porn has a high turnover rate for girls, like some girls don't make it past six months or a year or whatever.

“Not that I had those doubts for myself, but I've had a few hard days on set in my beginning where I was like, ‘Oh, man, am I even cut out for this?’ But you just push past it. Because you can't take things too personally. Like if the day goes bad it’s not because of you. There's other things going on.”

Now that she has gained invaluable experience in more than a hundred scenes, she can make the most of her days on the set.

“I feel most like myself when I’m shooting,” Jewelz says. “When I have shoot days it feels like I’m really busy and I’m like, ‘Yes, this is what I live for.’ So it feels good.

“Because I love it, I'm aiming for the big things. I have big plans this year. I would like to do my first anal scene also… I feel like it’s been over two years. I didn't want to do it all too soon in the beginning. I feel like you’ve got to give people something to wait for…”
