CHATSWORTH, Calif.—AVN Media Network today proudly presents the nominations for the upcoming 40th annual AVN Awards ceremony, presented by MyFreeCams and returning live and in-person Saturday, January 7, 2023 on the Las Vegas Strip, with superstars Abella Danger and Reya Sunshine hosting.

With a sweeping overhaul of both the jury-voted and fan-voted award categories this year (the latter of which will be divulged along with further details in the coming days), the AVN Awards Committee made the most significant changes in the arena of adult video directing, introducing a whole new suite of categories as follows: Best Directing Portfolio – Narrative, Best Directing Portfolio – Non-Narrative, Best Directing Portfolio - International, Best Directing Portfolio – Specialty and Outstanding Directing – Individual Work.
"On behalf of our committee, we collectively found in our meetings over the past seven weeks that this model for recognizing the work of adult's many gifted directors felt much cleaner than in the past and allowed us to honor a whole contingent who have been all but shut out before now," AVN senior editor Peter Warren said. "Congratulations to all of them, and to everybody else who received a nod, and we absolutely cannot wait to see everybody in Vegas two months from today!"
