CHATSWORTH, Calif. — She's been out of the spotlight for the better part of 2008, but Hillary Scott is about to swoop right back into the very center of it with the release of SexZ Pictures' tent pole production of the year, Icon.
Re-teaming the award-festooned starlet with director Eli Cross — whose Upload and Corruption respectively earned her the AVN Awards for Best Supporting Actress - Video this year and Best Actress - Video in 2007 — Icon serves as an all-out video monument to Scott.
"It's somewhat different for me, because it's more glamorized, but still with crazy sex acts and stuff," Scott told AVN. "I never watch any of my movies, but I watched this one, and I liked it a lot. I think it's a cool movie."
So where has Hillary been since last January? "Just hanging out in Chicago, being totally domesticated and going to school and doing non-porno things," she said. But fans need not fear ... in no way should her absence be construed as an unannounced retirement. In fact, it's been entirely by design.
Currently, Scott is merely about a year and a half into her unprecedented five-year, $1 million contract with SexZ, and as company publicist Jeff Mullen explained, "When Hillary Scott came aboard SexZ Pictures, she was coming off the best year of her career. So many other companies had stockpiled scenes of Hillary, or were coming out with 'The Best of Hillary Scott,' it was just too much to compete with. So what Bo [Kenney, SexZ's CEO] wanted to do was, he decided to pull her off the marketplace, and let some of the supply dry up. And what these other companies didn't have was the bigger blockbusters, the superstar vehicles, and he decided to wait for the right superstar vehicle, and Icon is that vehicle. So it was a matter of kind of letting the market thin itself out of Hillary Scott product, and then only offer the SexZ customers special product, not just a bunch of crap.
"SexZ wants to continue the legacy of Upload and Corruption," Mullen said, "and Icon is a different type of a movie, but it's still a big-budget movie, and rather than compete with the onslaught of regular gonzo material, SexZ decided to give the fans something to talk about, not just a movie that dies after a couple of weeks. And obviously, you team up Hillary Scott with Eli Cross again, that's a special event."
As to the main attraction of said event — the sex — Scott gave her assurance that, "My enthusiasm hasn't waned over the last four years, and my scenes are still what they've always been, which is super awesome!"
Specifically, Icon offers Scott in a gangbang, a d.p., a six-girl orgy scene and plenty more. And rest assured, she will soon be turning back up in public arenas to promote the movie — including, she promised, at the 2009 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.
Icon arrives on store shelves Tuesday, September 30. It co-stars Tori Black, Jennifer Dark, Trina Michaels, Morgan Layne, Trinity Post, Holly Wellin and Heidi Mayne. To view a trailer, click here.
