CHATSWORTH, Calif. - For the first time ever, Internet-based categories will be included in the annual AVN Awards Show.
The new categories and their pre-nomination forms are available at AVNAwards.com/nominations.
The 26th annual AVN Awards Show is set for Jan. 10, 2009, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The complete list of 2009 nominees will be announced in late November.
"The continuing convergence of our industry compelled us to add several important categories focusing specifically on online content and performers to this year's AVN Awards, which has traditionally focused on film and video production," said MJ McMahon, publisher of AVN Online magazine. "It's due time we give recognition to some of the individuals and talent driving this sector of the business on the biggest stage in adult entertainment."
The new categories for the 2009 AVN Awards are:
Best New Web Starlet - The top new female performer on the Internet. Performer must have a site focused specifically on her that has debuted in the last year (Sept. 1, 2007). Judging will be based on the performer's online body of work only, including video, photo and editorial content.
Site of the Year/Best Adult Website - Judging will be based on content quality, quantity and originality, site design, usability and features.
Web Starlet of the Year - The top female performer on the Internet. Performer must have a website focused specifically on her. Judging will be based on the performer's online body of work only, including video, photo and editorial content.
To gain access to the pre-nomination site starting, producers must obtain a username and password by submitting an email request to AVN screeners editor Angie Peek ([email protected]). AVN will not accept pre-nom lists in hard copy or via e-mail or fax. The pre-nominations site will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
