BATH, England—Inspired British sex toy manufacturer LoveHoney has received special nominations both for its reputation and its Sqweel oral sex simulator, an innovation that has set women’s heads spinning since its launch earlier this year. This marks the company’s—and the entire toy industry’s—first-ever AVN Awards recognition.

LoveHoney as a company is up for Best Sex Toy Company (Small), while the Sqweel is up for the Best Sex Toy for Women award. These nominations follow the recent release of Sqweelers, textured Sqweel inserts, and the Sqweevee, an attachment that turns the Sqweel into a vibrating cunnilingus wonder toy.
“For almost 30 years, the AVN Awards have been known as the premiere awards for the adult entertainment industry,” said Sherri L. Shaulis, senior editor of pleasure products for AVN. “And this year, for the first time ever, companies and items from the pleasure products side are being recognized. The inclusion of this segment is longer overdue, and there are some fantastic products and companies nominated this year."
The 2011 AVN Awards Show is slated for Jan. 8, 2011, at the Pearl Theatre, inside the Palms Hotel & Casino, and will be taped for broadcast this spring on the Showtime Network.
The 2011 AVN Awards will be co-hosted by 2010 AVN Female Performer of the Year Tori Black and Digital Playground contract girl Riley Steele, with a mainstream comic sidekick who will be named in the coming weeks. The show culminates the 2011 Adult Novelty Expo, Jan. 6-8, at the Sands Expo Center.
