MIAMI—In response to an upward trend in the positivity rate for Mycoplasma Genitalium (Mgen) among the overall adult talent pool, testing provider Talent Testing Service (TTS) has announced that it will now offer free Mgen testing to those who request it as part of their routine testing panel.
TTS discovered this rise as part of four months of data tracking Mgen results at its labs, reported in the most recent TTS STD Trends report, which showed the adult talent population had reached a positivity rate of 23.4 percent in July—driven by the male positivity rate, which peaked at 32.7 percent during the tracking period. The female rate declined to 14.5 percent in July, but remained "significant," the company said.
“TTS is glad to see the industry stakeholders joining our April 2023 decision to offer Mgen testing," TTS president and CEO Sixto Pacheco said. "We are taking it now a bit further and offering it for free.”
