When a good comedic script is supported by performances worthy of the material, and the editing is sharp enough to slice a block of hard cheese to wafer thin delectability, the result is a satisfying dagwood sandwich of pure porn entertainment. California or Bust is just such a feature; one of those rare birds where most of the creative elements just click into place – and manage to arouse as well.

With a tip of the fedora to the Bogart classic High Sierra, we find gangster-with-a-heart-of-gold Duke Mad Dog" McCoy and his cohorts (Arianna, Luc Wilder, Ian Daniels) gathering to rip-off a mountain resort. (In classic DeLongprez style, the hotel is overrun by a bikini convention where the requisite gaggle of babes haven't any pockets to secure their jewelry). In short time, Duke falls for Nikki Sinn, a blind maid with a "club tit" whose exits are funny as her appearances are provocative. The fact that DeLongPprez can keep their mutual heat on a high summer until the final explicit scene is a tribute to classy direction (or is that mis-direction?).

There's also a liaison between rival gangster Jonathan Morgan and his moll Tina Tyler (nice accents, guys!) which, though designed as a throwaway number ends up being the highlight of the feature. The chemistry between the felonious fuckers is nothing short of electric; intense oral and missionary action are captured in mouth-watering close-ups. Typical of the whole show, however, is an inappropriate selection of canned music tracks (in this case, a sound-alike to TV's Kung Fu) and lack of initial penetration shots, which practically squash any shot at nominations for '95.

Nevertheless, the jokes keep flying and the sex keeps rolling at a complimentary pace. Hotel manager Julian St. Jox and a refreshingly slimmed-down Toy fall into a clench which takes advantage of her full-figured form – from nipple nibbling, to the full swing of her pendulous protruberances and they doggie into a ferocious climax. The fact that Ian Daniels and Luc Wilder deliver their dialogue as if it were a shiva prayer only helps to reinforce their dolt-ish charm; but gorgeous Metro girl Lisa Ann doesn't seem to mind, particularly when they each start at each end and work their way to the middle for a mutual pop shot on her belly.

Quite good overall, though a bit more attention to detail could've garnered a higher rating.
