Review
Rachel Venning and Claire Cavanah, the dynamic
duo behind Toys in Babeland, have created a ridiculously enjoyable guide
to all things novelty (and beyond): Sex Toys 101. In just fewer than 200
pages, the authors manage to cover just about everything related to adult
novelties and the sexual proclivities that accompany them (and vice versa). The
word "fun" comes to mind when describing the engaging design of this full-color
book that's packed with photos, sidebars, FAQs and breezy but well-informed
writing that manages to be humorous without sacrificing the facts. Venning and
Cavanah have no agenda other than spreading the good word about sex toys, and
they do so with a fair and even hand, such as when they cover the pros and cons
of Cyberskin and its ilk. Though aimed at curious consumers, store owners who
make this book required reading for employees will find themselves with a very
well-informed staff. Of all the sex-toy books on the market, this by far is the
best.
